Out & About
Tarnwell Farm sits right in the Chew Valley with lots to explore in the local area. With a public footpath situated through the middle of the farm, you can roll out of the tent straight onto some great routes through the surrounding countryside, stopping off for breakfast, lunch and dinner along the way. Below are just some of our favourites.
Eating & Drinking
G’Day Coffee, Pensford - 0.5 miles / 10 minute walk
Lovely little coffee van situated just in Pensford only a short walk from the campsite. Open Fridays 8 - 12, Saturdays and Sundays 9 - 14:00.
The Druid Arms, Stanton Drew - 1.3 miles / 30 minute walk / 6 minute drive
A great local pub serving tasty pub classics using local produce wherever possible. For those interested in the local stone circles you can even find The Cove within the pub garden.
The Carpenter Arms, Stanton Wick - 1.9 miles / 45 minute walk / 8 minute drive
Another good pub in a lovely local village. Great for stopping off for lunch mid way through the days walk.
The Pony, Chew Magna - 2.9 miles / 1hr 05 minute walk / 11 minute drive
If your after something a little bit special then we highly recommend The Pony. They are a produce led restaurant with the menu changing daily. Or on a sunny day just grab a pint and sit out in the kitchen garden and take in the wonderful views.
The Lazy Lobster, Chew Magna - 3.1 miles / 1hr 15 minute walk / 10 minute drive
If you love seafood then this is a must, a little independent restaurant offering small plates with Michelin recognition. I would always recommend booking in advance.
Walking
Pensford and Stanton Wick Circular, 3.7 miles / 1.5hrs / Easy
Stroll down the lane from the campsite to start this walk in Pensford taking in views of the stunning viaduct.

Starting off in Pensford village, this varied route has a good amount of elevation through rolling hills and woodland with plenty of pubs along the way.
